Intern Program

Since 2011, native Spanish speaking interns have enhanced the immersion experience by supporting the development of oral and written language, and  bringing culture into the classrooms. To date, we have hosted more than 26 interns from Spain and Colombia for the full year, living with host families for 1/2 year or full year terms. 

Teacher/School/Library Grants

Apoyemos is able to fulfill grant request from teachers and administration to help bridge the gap between what PPS is able to fund, and what our students and teachers need. Since 2006, Apoyemos has funded over $110k in grants, providing our teachers and students with textbooks, library books, bilingual teacher conferences and education, technology and other classroom materials. 

8th GRADE CAPSTONE TRIP

Each year, the 8th grade West Sylvan Spanish Immersion students are given the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica for an international homestay experience. The trip offers the students the chance to gain cultural and global awareness and reinforce their Spanish language skills by participating in language classes, a fully immersive program with a Costa Rican family, service opportunities and exploring Tortuguero National Park in Costa Rica. A portion of funds raised by Apoyemos are set aside each year by class, to help subsidize the cost of and provide scholarships for future trips, allowing the maximum number of students to participate.
